Welcome to VixCamps.com Where Music and Nature come together
Here you can find information on all camps run by 5-time Grammy award winning musician, author, and naturalist, Victor L. Wooten.

In the early 1990's, Victor Wooten's curiosity was peaked while reading a book called The Tracker, a true account of the life of wilderness survival expert and tracker Tom Brown Jr. Shortly after reading that book, Victor spent nearly ten years studying under Tom and others learning the ancient art of tracking, awareness, and survival. In his studies, Victor found a common thread - what these teachers called Nature, Victor called Music.
Borrowing proven skills, techniques, and philosophies from his Nature teachers, and combining them with many years of learning Music from his brothers, Regi, Roy (Future Man), Rudy, and Joseph, Victor developed a new, unique approach to Music; an approach that not only caused him to immediately play better, but also directly improved his Life.
At that time, Victor began touring the world with the super-group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. This proved to be the ideal playground for him to test and further perfect his skills as well as develop new ones. Originally reserved for only himself, an inner urging persuaded him to share these new insights and techniques with as many people as possible. Following this urge, Victor began teaching private lessons. Soon after, as word spread of something new happening on the music scene, he was asked to start giving master classes and clinics. This allowed him to find more appropriate ways of passing this information on to others - and in the year 2000, Victor Wooten's Bass/Nature Camp was born.

Now cruising into its twelfth year, Vix Camps continue to be the perfect setting for Victor Wooten to share his musical approach with students from across the globe. With a collection of the world's most innovative instructors, they have directly helped hundreds of musicians better themselves and their Music.
Since the beginning, Victor has made a point to teach full time at every one of his camps. And now, with the acquisition of Wooten Woods Retreat, the 147 acre riverfront home to all of Victor's camps, Victor is able to reach more people by offering more camps per year and covering more topics. (Check the site for other camps offered Music/Nature Camp, Bass/Nature Camp Jr., Spirit of Music, Theory Weekend, Jam Weekend, 3-Week Residency, and more.)
Victor, his staff, and students are proud of what we have accomplished since our humble beginnings back in 2000, and we look forward to sharing it all with you. We are sure that you will be just as proud of what we can accomplish together. All you have to do is come visit us. We look forward to it.
See you soon.
